Nizwa

In the Nizwa region, around 100,000 people live, spread across over 40 villages and oases. The city of Nizwa is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable places in Oman. The architecturally unique fort of the city and the many green gardens and extensive palm groves give the city a distinctive and primitive charm and character. The oasis itself is quite historically significant – especially in the 17th century, Nizwa was a thriving center of religion, philosophy, trade, and art. The markets of the city and the various sights in and around Nizwa lead many who have visited Nizwa to speak of a state of suspension between history and the present. The excellently restored facades of old buildings and houses contribute to giving the visitor the feeling of a brief visit to a city from the Arabian Nights. Another characteristic feature of the city is its connection to the silver craftsmanship. For the silversmiths in Oman, Nizwa is somewhat like the silver capital. Here, one can find besides rose water also the traditional Khanjar at the markets and in the shops of the city. From Nizwa, various excursions can be made in the region. For example, the Jabrin Castle is definitely worth a visit. The Hisn Tamah fortress near the city of Bahla is also a popular excursion destination in the region.

Almost a third of the Arabian Peninsula is covered by it. It spans the territories of four countries: Oman, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates. Wadi Tiwi

When you explore Oman from the coastal roads you will continually encounter a typical natural attraction of the country. So-called wadis stretch along the coastal strip. Wadi Tiwi is densely vegetated and its mountain formations contrast fascinatingly with the vegetation. Over a distance of about 10 kilometers, you can explore this palm-rich wadi from above and enjoy a great view of its shape. Several small ...
