Educational System
Als Sultan Quaboos Ibn Said im Jahr 1970 die Macht ergriff, war das Bildungssystem im Land veraltet und in keinster Weise zukunftsfähig. Es gab neben der ausschließlich religiös motivierten Koranschule nur drei Knabengrundschulen in den größten Städten des Landes. Gerade einmal rund 900 Schüler wurden damals von 30 Lehrern unterrichtet. Gemessen an der Einwohnerzahl von etwa 700'000 war die Zahl der Schüler in dieser Zeit sehr klein.
