Itinerary
Arrival in Muscat
Upon your arrival at Muscat Airport, you will be welcomed by our colleagues from Primeclass Lounge. They will take care of your entry formalities while you recover from your flight. Afterwards, your private driver will take you to your hotel for the coming nights - The Chedi Muscat. With the Hajar mountains at your back and a view of the azure Gulf of Oman, the wonderful boutique hotel The Chedi Muscat welcomes you. Here, the Arabesque influence merges with modern elegance, creating one of the most beautiful places to stay in the capital. The hotel's infinity pool is the longest in all of Arabia - so don't miss your chance for a refreshing dip in the cool water.
Discover Muscat
Together with your private Omani guide, you'll explore the capital Muscat today. In addition to the Grand Mosque, the Opera House, and the fish market, you'll also visit a traditional souk and the old town with the new National Museum, where you can admire art and cultural treasures from past times. This will provide you with insights into Omani culture and way of life.
The day slowly comes to an end with a dhow ride in the afternoon. Enjoy the beautiful view along Muscat’s waterfront at sunset while sipping a drink.
Off-road adventure through the Hajar mountains
After breakfast, your tour begins. First, you will stop in the coastal town of Barka, known for its fish market and bullfighting. Shortly thereafter, you will reach Nakhl (meaning “palms”) – a picturesque town where you’ll visit the 350-year-old castle before crossing the mountains.
Enjoy the ride on the off-road track through Wadi Bani Awf, passing by date palms, rocky gorges, and breathtaking viewpoints. Amidst the rugged mountain landscape lies Bilad Sayt, a small village that has retained its traditional charm and the feeling of rural solitude.
Afterwards, on the other side of the mountains, you will reach your guesthouse, the Al Misfah Hospitality Inn. Here, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the surrounding Omani mountains. Take in this view during the golden hour from the terrace.
Jebel Akhdar - The Green Mountain
Today you will reach the ‘Green Mountain’ and the fantastic Alila Jabal Akhdar Hotel. At over 2,000 meters above sea level, you’ll experience pure relaxation in an unforgettable setting. From here, you can plan wonderful day trips into the spectacular surroundings, but the spa area and pool with a view of the rocky landscape are also worth a visit.
The Jebel Akhdar region is one of the most fertile areas in the country and especially appears lushly green during the winter months. Here, one can find pomegranates, apricots, almonds, walnuts, grapes, and also on the impressive terrace fields, you'll find those roses from which the famous Jabal Akhdar rosewater is distilled.
Nizwa and the beautiful mountain world
The breathtaking mountain world of Oman has a lot to offer. Depending on your preference, you can explore the area by hiking or mountain biking.
We also recommend a detour to the former capital, Nizwa. Start by exploring the traditional souk, renowned for its silverware and pottery. Climb the tower of the fort for a wonderful view of the city and the surrounding mountains. On Fridays, Nizwa also hosts the country's most famous livestock market. However, you can also simply enjoy the tranquility by the pool and pamper yourself with a massage in the excellent spa.
Glamping in the Wahiba Desert
Before you head into the desert today, you can visit some small villages on the way. A stop in the mountain village of Birkat Al Mauz (located at the foot of Jebel Akhdar) is worth it. Explore the area where you can admire date plantations, old clay houses, and the famous Falaj water channels, which are a UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site.
Just before reaching the desert, you will stop in Mudayrib. The marketplace with its old houses and splendid wooden doors, some of which originate from Zanzibar, is particularly impressive. This village offers an authentic insight into the lives of the locals. Alternatively, you may choose to take an excursion to the country's most famous wadi, Wadi Bani Khalid. The riverbed flows with water year-round and invites you to refresh in its large pools filled with turquoise water. Small hikes are also possible here.
Afterwards, you will head into the desert. Be impressed by a drive through the dunes of the breathtaking Wahiba desert. Shortly thereafter, you will arrive at the spot where camels are already waiting for you. They will take you during an impressive sunset ride to your accommodation for the night. The private camp by Canvas Club will be set up exclusively for you in the desert, about 40 kilometers from the main road. Enjoy absolute silence away from civilization in a unique atmosphere!
Wadis and the coast
After breakfast, you will bid farewell to the desert and continue towards the coast. You can either proceed to the port city of Sur, where, after a brief city tour, you will visit a dhow shipyard. Alternatively, you can continue along the eastern Hajar mountains until you reach the palm-fringed Wadi Tiwi and Wadi Shab, two of the country’s most beautiful wadis. Explore Wadi Shab by walking for about an hour into the valley until you reach crystal clear pools where you can cool off. Continue along the coast and stop at Fins Beach. The white sand and turquoise water invite you to linger and offer excellent photo opportunities. It is also worth making a brief stop at the Bimmah Sinkhole, a limestone crater fed by seawater from below. In the early evening, you will arrive back in Muscat at the airport. From there, your flight continues to Salalah.
Beach stay in Salalah
Salalah is located on the Arabian Sea and about 1,000 kilometers south of Muscat, the capital of Oman. Salalah is the largest city in the south of the country and the capital of the Dhofar region. It's also known for its banana plantations, beaches, and green mountains during the monsoon season.
In the coming days, you will stay in one of the highest quality hotels in Oman. For those wanting to escape the daily hustle and bustle, Alila Hinu Bay is the perfect choice! An hour's drive from Salalah Airport, in the small fishing village of Mirbat, you'll find a true oasis of well-being. The Alila is located in a secluded bay and captivates with its wonderful charm and architecture.
