The Sultanate of Oman
Early this afternoon, you will fly to Muscat, the capital of Oman. At the airport, you will be greeted by our colleagues from Primeclass Lounge, who will take care of your entry formalities while you recover from your flight. You will then be handed over to your personal driver, who will take you to the hotel. On the way, stop at the idyllic oasis of Birkat al Mauz. Explore the town center, where you can admire the famous Falaj water channels, one of the four UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Oman, alongside date plantations and old clay houses. From there, continue to your hotel. In the midst of the unspoiled region, you can relax wonderfully in absolute silence with breathtaking views.
Fantastic views in the Jebel Akhdar mountains
Today is best suited for an extensive journey of discovery through the surrounding mountain region. The Jebel Akhdar region (translated as 'green mountain') is one of the most fertile areas in the country and appears particularly lush during the winter months. Here you find pomegranates, apricots, almonds, walnuts, grapes, and the impressive terraced fields grow the roses from which the famous Jabal Akhdar rose water is distilled. In the afternoon, we recommend a detour to the former capital Nizwa. Start exploring the traditional souk, known for its silverware and pottery. Climb to the tower of the fort, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city and the surrounding mountains.
Oman's mountain world
The mountainous region provides ideal conditions for hiking, mountain biking, or a relaxing day with breathtaking views.
From the mountains to the Wahiba Sands desert
Today you will leave the dreamlike mountain world of Oman and head into the desert. Just before entering the desert, you will make a stop in Al Mudhaireb. The lively marketplace with its old houses and beautiful wooden doors, some of which are from Zanzibar, is particularly worth seeing. This village offers a particularly authentic insight into the life of the locals.
At sunset, you will reach Wahiba Sands. Enjoy the ride through the dunes of the stunning desert, where the colors change hourly: in the morning it seems white, at noon ochre, and in the late afternoon almost red. Once you arrive in the desert, you will experience a fascinating camel ride towards the 'desert hotel' in the sunset. The private camp of Canvas Club will be erected exclusively for you in the desert, about 40 kilometers from the main route. Indulge in the great variety of flavors from your private chef and enjoy absolute tranquility away from civilization in this unique atmosphere.
Wadis and the coast
Spend the morning in the wonderful Wadi Bani Khalid - one of the most beautiful and well-known wadis in the country. The riverbed carries water all year round and invites you to refresh yourself in its large pools filled with turquoise water. Short hikes are also possible here.
Afterwards, the journey continues to the port city of Sur, where you will visit a dhow shipyard after a short city tour. Then, you will drive back along the coastal road towards Muscat, passing two more impressive wadis, Wadi Tiwi and Wadi Shab.
In the early evening, you will arrive at your hotel in Muscat and check in for the coming nights.
Discover Muscat
Together with your private Omani guide, you will explore the capital Muscat today. In addition to the Grand Mosque, the Opera House, and the fish market, you will also visit a traditional souk and the old town with the new National Museum, where you can admire art and cultural treasures from past times. This will provide you with insights into Omani culture and way of life.
Ma'a As-Salama!
Enjoy the last two days in the capital before saying goodbye to a journey full of new impressions and newfound friendships. On your departure day, your private driver will pick you up and take you back to the airport, from where you will begin your journey home.
