Anyone interested in the north of Oman should pay Musandam a visit. Musandam is a peninsula with about 30,000 inhabitants. The vibrant center of the region is the city of al-Khazab, which has undergone continuous development in recent years and has become a popular holiday destination. Fishing is of particular importance to Musandam. Tourism has also become increasingly important for the peninsula. Especially tourists feel comfortable here, who – parallel to culture and nature – also want to enjoy a higher level of luxury. Accordingly, the accommodations of the region rely on exclusivity and wellness.
Due to the fact that Musandam is a peninsula, it is in a sense self-explanatory that there is a wide range of beaches available. What is particularly impressive is the picturesque mix of turquoise water and white sand. But that’s not all! Also, diving fans will get their money’s worth here. Not only is the underwater world extremely colorful, but also, the water is so clear that both beginners and professionals will be curious about what it looks like under the surface. Various suppliers of diving equipment (for hire) make sure that spontaneous trips are possible. In general, all kinds of water sports are celebrated in Musandam, not only by the tourists. The region around Khasab is also suitable for surfing or kayaking.
Not in the mood for action? No problem! Musandam is also wonderfully enjoyable in purely visual terms. Not only the steep cliffs of the Hadjar Mountains, but also the romantic bays are particularly impressive. Those who would like to explore the region not just on foot but also comfortably on water simply take part in a dhow ride. In addition, the largest fjord on the peninsula is aways worth a visit. The Khor ash-Shamm can be reached easily with the SUV and is well-suited for relaxing moments of silence.
Khasab is one of the hot spots for tourists. Here, cultural impressions dominate, which can be fully enjoyed, for example, during a visit to the historic fortress or the harbor. Here, it is easy to travel into the past for a few moments. Fans of historic buildings do not have to travel far for a very special attraction. The fortress of Caçapo (Chasab) lies directly at the port. Here, you will find a particularly interesting collection of finds of the categories “equipment” and “clothing”. After having experienced so many impressions, it is even more fun to settle down in one of the smaller cafes, to enjoy the view of the wonderful scenery, and then head back to the hotel with new energy.
