On the sand dune above the camp, the camp manager will welcome you so that you can get the first glimpse of your desert home – and much more. We only reveal this much: The desert for itself – what a magical moment…

Ali walks back to the kitchen tent where Faheem, Russel and Abdul are already preparing the food. Faheem kneads the dough for his fresh flat bread, which he then rolls out and bakes on the open fire. Abdul prepares the chicken, which is cooked under the embers of the campfire with vegetables and fresh thyme.
As a team, each individual prepares what they have learned to appreciate and love from home from fresh ingredients that are bought daily at the local markets along the edge of the desert.
Canvas Club has always made it a priority to provide its team in the desert with no restrictions. Everybody should act the way they are!
Apart from the basics of hospitality and service, which gets trained at the beginning of the season, each team member should laugh, share personal stories and cook their own recipes. It is the insights into everyday life in the desert, the stories about the family and legends about particular camels that inspire reflection.
… and this is exactly what you’ll find in the desert. At the Canvas Club Camp we use solar power and there are neither quad bikes nor cell phone reception. Decide for yourself if they would rather retreat with your loved ones, read a bit and play cards or just enjoy the peace, stars and campfire.
Nevertheless, if you feel like it, you can listen to the team’s stories and get to know and understand their customs and way of life. This exchange often helps to relax and to rediscover oneself.

Over the years, Oman and the Wahiba Desert have become home to the Cologne-born artist. Maik put the team together, trained and committed to the Canvas Club philosophy, and made sure that Canvas Club Glamping has established itself as the market leader in the DACH region.
After a few days in his office in Muscat, he often returns to the desert and so even today he personally takes care of many bookings and is happy to share his experiences from the Sultanate of Oman and the desert with our guests.
Ali has been part of the Canvas Club team since the very beginning and looks back on over 15 years of experience in the desert. His deep love for life, nature, and the silence of the desert immediately captivates you and there is hardly a question where Ali can’t tell a story from life. The conversations around the campfire with Ali are often what make the stay at the Canvas Club a memorable experience for many. So in 2018, the filmmaker Marko Roth took the meeting with Ali completely without any script as an occasion for a short film “The Encounter”, which couldn’t have described the person Ali and the experience of the desert better.
Hussain’s brother and longtime friend of Ali is the oldest on the team and has called the desert his home for more than 12 years. Abdul knows before every weather forecast when the sun is shining and can tell the guests exactly behind which dune at which time the moon rises above the starry sky.
Without a mobile phone and other technical devices, Abdul enjoys the desert life, the peace, and nature since a long time and he is with his long experience in the middle of nature a great inspiration for our guests, who leave the everyday stress in their time with us as far as possible behind.
Abdul’s brother Hussain is the youngest on the team. After the many stories about the Canvas Club family and time in the desert he followed his brother and is in the team mainly responsible for the technique. The camp is run completely without electricity and generator and the solar technology and the self-sufficient work 40km in the desert is a daily challenge for the team, but so far it is always solved together.
In the morning, before the sun rises, Hussain and Faheem like to bake fresh bread in the old Bedouin way. Flour, water, some salt and firewood, and a hot stone are all they need.
Faheem has been part of the Canvas Club family for two years now and the “old hands” didn’t think the good-looking, passionate singer would last a week in the desert at first sight.
Today, Faheem has become an indispensable part of the Canvas Club family and for Abdul and Ali, he has become like a son who brings a lot of new ideas to Canvas Club. In the desert kitchen, Faheem is the boss and only what everyone in the team knows from home and what is freshly available on the markets of the region every day is cooked.
Sarwar is the new addition to the team but it seems as if he has never been anywhere else than between the sand dunes of the Wahiba in our private desert camp.
So far there is no day when Sarwar is not beaming over both ears and with his contagious smile he reads every wish from the lips of our guests.
